Azure Damselfly

Reference: DR43
Location: Latchmore Brook, New Forest
Gallery: Dragonflies,

One of the commonest dragonflies in Britain. The Azure has a U-shaped mark on the first abdomen segment whereas the Common Blue has a mushroom shaped mark in the same position. I shot this with my 600mm lens combination as I was quite a distance from the insect and the very wet floating mat of Marsh St John’s Wort wouldn’t have supported my weight if I’d tried to get closer!
