Chequered Skipper

After long trips north in recent years for Mountain Ringlet, Large Heath, Northern Brown Argus and Scotch Argus I only had one remaining British Butterfly to see, the Chequered Skipper. This was our third attempt to see one and we targeted Glasdrum Wood in Argyll, a 10 hour drive from Southampton. Thankfully the weather was glorious, unlike in previous years, and so by 8am on the Friday morning we had seen one thus completing my full British list. This shot was taken in the softer morning light and with a wide aperture to throw the background out of focus to simplify things.
