If a landscape photographer hopes for good light it usually means side lighting illuminating the land and if he hopes for colour it usually means colour in the sky which often peaks before sunrise and after sunset. This view at Chilbolton Common looks roughly south and so I usually hope for direct side lighting on the land and in winter the sun sets much further to the south and so there is also a greater possibility of colour in the sky. We didn’t get the light but we got the colour.
