Dappled Skies

Reference: NF17
Location: Beaulieu Road
Gallery: New Forest,

Shooting time after sunset can be lengthened by using a reflective foreground such as this shallow pond. I featured an attractive log by getting in close and low with a wide angled lens. The sunset ended up being suppressed by low cloud although as the sun disappeared some of its fading colour was reflected into this pleasing dappled effect. Beaulieu Road Station lies on the main rail line running from London Waterloo to Weymouth. Beaulieu Road was opened as a ‘personal’ station for Lord Montagu, a concession to him for allowing the railway to be built over part of his Beaulieu Estate.
