Deer Leap Tracks

This area was on our dog walking route and so I’d seen it many times before. I particularly liked the converging lines of the path and livestock trails and the exposed tree roots climbing through the frame like a ladder. The young pine also acted as a perfect focal point and I found that by shooting from below knee height the lines were exaggerated and the pine tree broke the horizon. The viewpoint looks due north and so the dawn sun appeared from the right and as it did so it cast a golden hue across the scene and picked out some of the purples in the fading heather.
