Ibsley Heather

Reference: NF7
Location: Ibsley Common
Gallery: New Forest,

The heaths of the New Forest are particularly attractive in August with the Heather in flower. The heaths are protected from development and the ponies, cattle and deer help to maintain the habitat by their continual grazing. This shot of an attractive lone pine at Ibsley was made looking directly into the sunrise but just before the sun had appeared. The subtle peaches were just developing but any later and the direct sun would have caused excessive flare reducing contrast. The nearer pinks are Bell Heather while most of the carpet comprises the lilac purples of Common Heather.
