Large Marsh Grasshopper

An amazing insect the Large Marsh Grasshopper is huge. In Britain it is restricted to the New Forest and parts of Dorset and is extremely local in its occurrence. It’s only found in very marshy places and so it can be tricky to photograph. Its call is a loud clicking pop like pop corn bursting. It also flies quite strongly and for quite a distance. Overall, one of those wildlife encounters that makes you smile with amazement.
