New Forest Contours

In comparison to some of the larger plains in the New Forest Rockford Common provides a bit of variety as it includes interesting contours and steeper slopes with isolated birches and pine trees. This composition was made just below the top of a slope with the low sun setting behind me in the south west. The sun was just high enough to clear the slope and brighten the tops of the bracken and light up the Pine on the opposite bank. Within seconds of this shot, however, the sun had dipped below the horizon behind me throwing everything into shadow.
