Longslade Bottom is a horseshoe-shaped plain with prominent pine trees and with paths leading the eye down from the bowl shaped sides of the plain. I visited in August being the peak time for the purple colours of the heather. I found a composition which included a south easterly running path and a prominent patch of heather in the foreground. The image was really lifted when the carpets of Bell Heather were sidelit with the dawn sun giving a gorgeous pink coating to the flower tops.
