Small Red Damselfly
Reference: DR44
Location: Latchmore Brook, New Forest
Gallery: Dragonflies,
The delicate and rare Small Red Damselfly. I much prefer using long focal lengths for insects and so I favour a 200mm macro lens. There are also times when you physically can’t get close enough to the subject and this was the case here with the damselfly in the middle of a boggy flush. I switched to my 600mm lens combination and so was able to ‘get closer’ and the background is thrown even further out of focus.
