I thought I would try a bit of focus stacking and this tree on Wilverley Plain in the New Forest seemed like a great subject to practice on. I switched to a smaller aperture f8 which is a sharper part of the lens and took 3 images, one focussed on the tree another on the end of the log and the third in the middle somewhere. I later blended the 3 images in photoshop so that every part of the image was razor sharp. This is a great technique to maximise sharpness for when you have ultra close foreground interest (which I often look for to stretch perspective and depth).
